l i v e o n s t a g e : ARTICA
The Artica Project Began in 1989 with a style born in between Dark, Cold Wave and Gothic Rock musical trends - it took some years before finding their own musical identity. On February 1992 the first demo tape was released : "Marea", featuring 8 tracks and exclusively italian lyrics. Good responses came from all over Italy, France, Germany and England. In the same year Artica participated in several compilations and since the interest in the band was raising up they released the second demo tape in February 1994 ("Dahlia"). Participations in compilations kept on in such ambitious projects as "Gothic Rock II" (Jungle Records) and "Death by Dawn 2 - The Avenger" (Apollyon Records). In 1994 Mick Mercer included Artica in the third "Gothic Rock Book" and soon after came good responses also from "gothic monsters" like Bari-Bari (Mephisto Walz), Mike Van Portfleet(Lycia/Bleak), Godkrist (Madre del Vizio), Patrick Hendrix (Breath of life) etc. etc.
The first CD "Ombra e Luce"came to the light in 1995 thanks to the german label Nyctalopia and then, in 1997 there came the second one, "Natura", produced by the Italian label "Radio Luxor". A track from Natura ("Lucrezia") was featured in the new Mick Mercer's compilation "The Hex Files vol. 2 - The Goth Bible".
Even a very personal interpretation of Virgin Prunes's "Caucasian walk" was performed and recorded by Artica for a tribute cd.
After a long and silent period the band began a long collaboration with Decadance Records which brought first (2003) the reissuing of "Ombra e Luce" (adding a bonus track from the "ancient" demotapes) and finally the release (2006) of the third cd "Plastic Terror" , mostly sung in english.
A silent break occurred again and after few split ups and reunions, Artica definitely came back in 2014 with a new bass player, renewed will to play live and several new tracks that are gonna be the spinal chord of the forthcoming album.
